Creative Conversations 2009

“ It was wonderful to find a space to be creative in a supportive environment with women from different parts of Cardiff and different cultures”

In January WAA launched Creative Conversations, a 3-month research and consultation project, with the aim of consulting with participants from Cardiff and Barry during arts taster workshops and events, in order to inform WAA’s future community arts projects.

The project enabled participants to experiment with new arts techniques, contribute to future planning and register interest for the forthcoming printing project, Creative Imprints. The consultations proved to be creative, informative, enjoyable and a valuable experience for WAA, artists and community groups.

Outcomes:

•    WAA identified new groups and partnerships with Mums Matters, The Women’s Workshop in Butetown, Communities First for areas of St Mellons and Riverside in Cardiff, Gibbonsdown, Thompson Street and Castleland in Barry.
•    Increased interest in Creative Imprints from past and new participants living in Cardiff and Barry.
•    WAA evidenced the real need for continued access provision such as crèche, transport, translation and appropriate disabled access.
•    WAA received in-kind support from Communities First in St Mellons.
•    WAA received funding from The Communities First Trust Fund and the Arts Council of Wales for Creative Imprints.

A full report, which includes all the findings of the project, is available on request.
