This year’s meeting was held on 24th September at Craft in the Bay, Cardiff.
Following the formal AGM , WAA’s Development Officer, Emily Hinshelwood reported on 2009’s members’ consultation and how WAA is responding with exciting new developments.
After a delicious buffet lunch WAA hosted a lively Members’ Event with three very different artists offering three unique workshops.
Award winning writer Sue Richardson, led an exploration of the joys and challenges of a woman’s creative life. Sue has had a lifelong passion for live performance and the spoken and written word. In her work as poet, performer and educator, she aims to stimulate minds, stir the urge to create and inspire a similar passion in others.

Having returned from a residency at the Ruthin Craft Centre, artist Becky Adams guided members in producing a miniature book. Becky creates artist’s books and textiles from an ever-changing assortment of collected materials. A combination of antique ephemera, vintage fabric and sketchbook extracts are assembled to create unique artworks rich with a handmade aesthetic.

Artist, Illustrator and Designer, Susan Joshi, introduced simple, traditional printmaking techniques. Susan was the lead artist during WAA’s Creative Imprints project, sharing her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for the eclectic use of materials, inspired by nature, to produce a variety of stunning images.
